I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your note of the 15th. August on the subject of the rehabilita-
-tion of the exchange value of the Canton [wenty-cent plece, in
which you desire to know what decision I have arrived at and what
measures 1 propose to adopt as a result of the personal exchange
of views between Messrs. Aen and Chu and the Manager of the
Hongkong and Shanghai Eand.
in reply I beg to state that I have instruct-
-ed the Board of Reorganisation with faotal Aen and the Superin-
-tendent of the Mint to report to me their views on the various
points raised in the course of the interview, and on receipt of
this report I will again communicate with you.
